The Nunnery

The Nunnery campus* is our base for Degree and Post Graduate (Higher Education) courses. We deliver lecturers over three floors in the main building, including the lecture theatre.

Facilities

Food & Drink - Students are welcome to use the kitchen facilities (fridge, kettle, microwave and water machine) and can make use of the vending machines for snacks and hot drinks. You're also welcome to visit the #2 cafeteria at the Homefield Road campus, or, as the Nunnery is conveniently located close to Douglas, can nip into town for lunch and breaks.

Academic resources - we have a large collection of relevant academic books on-site and students are encouraged to utilise the Library at the Homefield Road campus.

Outside - students are welcome to use the lawn to sit and study, and there is a space in the adjacent meadows for football and other games. There are also picnic benches in the garden and on the patio area where students can relax or study.

Student Services - we have a Student Welfare Officers based at The Nunnery once a week, and Student Services can be contacted outside of that time.

Academic support & employability skills - students based at the Nunnery campus are welcome to make an appointment with our Academic Support Centre team and Employment Skills Coordinator at the Homefield Road campus.

Accessibility

Parking: there is a disabled parking space outside the front of the main building.

Toilets: there is a disabled toilet on the ground floor.

As part of the continued development of our facilities we’re regularly looking at ways to improve the accessibility of our campuses to meet the demands of our students.

Due to the age of the building there are some accessibility limitations however students with additional accessibility needs have a Personal Evacuation Plan in the unlikely event of a fire, and where we need to we’ll make changes to accommodate them in the delivery of their course.

*Whilst UCM does not own the site, we work with the owners to ensure that the learning environment reflects the needs of the students and staff.
