What is the Course About?

• Health, Safety and Welfare in building services engineering

• Principles of electrical science

• Electrical installations: fault diagnosis and rectification

• Electrical installations: inspection, testing and commissioning

• Electrical system design

• Career awareness in building service engineering

• Understand the fundamental principles and requirements of environmental technology systems

What are my progression and career options?

Successful completion of this course will assist in you progressing onto the Register of Manx craftsmen and craftswomen, employment in either the domestic, commercial or industrial sector, start your own business or Level 3 National Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment or Engineering.

How will I be assessed?

The course commences September. Each unit is split into practical and theory elements. Self-study is part of the course students are also be set written assignments that will require some research and time management. Most units have a practical and theory exam, both of which must be successfully completed in order to progress through the course. Students that do not meet the required milestones will not progress onto the next level of qualification.

Entry requirements

You will need to have successfully achieved Level 2. Additionally, you will need to be employed by a relevant employer and registered with the Department of Education, Sport & Culture (tel: 682379).
