Level 2 Hairdressing (VTCT NVQ Diploma) Day Release

What is the Course About?

Before you can enter this exciting world you must learn all the basics. The course is designed to develop all the skills you will require to enable you to become a Hair Stylist. You will experience all aspects of practical hairdressing and complete units required by VTCT. You will get involved in the buzz of the training salon with a regular clientele.

The course is practically based with the necessary theory of underpinning knowledge to ensure complete understanding of all aspects of hairdressing. You will have to learn basic rules of chemistry, physics, anatomy and biology.

What subjects will I study?

• Advise and consult with clients

• Shampoo, condition& treat the hair and scalp

• Develop & maintain your effectiveness at work.

• Style and finish hair (blow drying)

• Change & lighten hair colour

• Cut hair using basic techniques

• Set & dress hair

• Plait and twist hair

• Fulfil salon reception duties

Course fees

Course fees are inclusive of tuition, assessment and registration fees. Additional fees will be required for salon uniform, relevant kit, equipment and text book.

What are my progression and career options?

Progress to the VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing

Employment in salons worldwide, on cruise ships, as a stylist.

How will I be assessed?

The practical assessments will be achieved within the Synnova Training Salon throughout the course. The underpinning knowledge is assessed by oral questions, externally set multiple choice online exams and internally set exams.

Entry requirements

• You must be working full time in salon employment, as a trainee hairdresser

• There are no academic entry requirements, but you will need a good understanding of English

• You should have a degree of artistic skill and flair

• A wiliness to learn

• A positive attitude

• Excellent communication skills
