What is the Course About?

This course will help you to develop a sound knowledge of health and safety, client care, communication, as well as equip you with the practical skills you’ll need to provide a relaxing and stress relieving treatment of Indian Head Massage, enabling you to provide your own services for clients.

This is ideal if you are a qualified therapist as you will be able to do this short evening course as your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training.

What will I study?

The qualification consists of one unit:

• Provide Indian Head Massage – this unit is about the skills involved in providing Indian Head Massage treatments and the ability to adapt massage techniques to suit individual client needs with and without the use of oils, while incorporating health, safety, hygiene and client care.

What are my progression and career options?

You may want to enhance your massage skills by undertaking other massage courses at UCM. Alternatively, you can progress to employment by offering Indian Head Massage services in cruise ships or salons worldwide, or become a mobile or freelance Indian Head Massage therapist.

How will I be assessed?

The underpinning knowledge is assessed through observation and case studies, supplemented with online multiple-choice exams, oral questions and written work. Evidence of work is compiled into your portfolio.

Case studies will be completed in your own time with a minimum of nine treatments, which must include three clients, each receiving three Indian Head Massages.

Your assessor will observe a minimum of three practical Indian Head Massage treatments within the Synnova training salon.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements; however, you should be:

• working within the beauty, hairdressing or holistic therapies industry,

• have access to the Internet to upload evidence to your e-portfolio.

You will be required to purchase a uniform and basic kit to enable you to complete the case studies and assessments, and are additional fees for this course.
