Pearson BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sports Industry Skills (Leading on Children’s Sports Activities)

What is the Course About?

This course is for post-16 learners who have a passion for sports coaching. During this qualification you will learn how to lead children’s sports activities through both theory and practical based learning, and given the opportunity to practice your skills during work placements. This course is CIMSPA accredited and can be used as a stepping stone onto our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development. The course will provide you with the skills necessary to develop a career within the sports coaching industry.

There is a requirement for all students on this course to purchase a UCM sports kit, the kit must be worn when out on placements or representing UCM during off-site activities. The cost of the kit is approximately £130, you will be required to purchase this prior to the course commencing.

All students will need a DBS check to complete this course. As placements are with vulnerable groups (children), it is vital that all students on this course complete and pass a DBS check. This is carried out at college during the first few weeks of study.

There are 4 modules on this course with assessments being both written and practical application. All modules are mandatory.

2. Physical and sports education in school and community settings

3. Sports leadership

4. Working as a sports leader

What are my progression and career options?

Working in the sport and active leisure industry as a children’s sport activity leader.

Progress onto Level 3 study, such as Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development course.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed using a range of methods, such as presentations, posters, professional discussions, practical application and written essays. All assessments link to the assessment criteria provided by BTEC.

3 x GSCE’s or equivalent at grades A*-D
