Fees and Finances

Staff in the Student Services Area are available to offer information, advice and guidance about fees and grants related to College study.

They can also help with wider concerns about benefits and budgeting. Information documents will be sent out with acknowledgement of an application, but please make an appointment with a member of the Student Services Team if you would like to discuss this matter personally.

UCM also operates a Student Hardship Fund that can be accessed by students on a one off basis for help with, for example, buying text books or paying for an educational trip. A small committee is responsible for making decisions based on information put forward by the tutor and/or student. This fund is largely supported by donations made via fundraising activity carried out by students and staff.

The College also operates a Childcare Support Scheme that is available to full-time students with pre-school age children. The support is means tested (the less you earn the more you get) so that it benefits those who need it most. Each case is considered individually and as there is a limited budget it operates on a first come first served basis.
