Induction for higher education students

CONGRATULATIONS on becoming a higher education student at University College Isle of Man (UCM)!

We look forward to welcoming you to UCM, and in the meantime, please see our student handbook which contains useful information to help you prepare for your degree studies with us.

There are almost 500 higher education students at UCM studying a variety of different subjects, and you can find some valuable information and advice from past students within this handbook.

As a student of both UCM and the University of Chester (our academic partner) you have the support of both institutions. You will receive an email from the University of Chester asking you to enrol online with them; please do this as soon as possible so you can access a lot of information referred to in this handbook.

By logging in our Learner Portal, you will be able to view any offer(s) made to you, accept the offer(s), and upload any evidence of your qualifications. Please see here for guidance on how to access the portal.

You should already have received the ‘Fees and Funding’ information sheet and you may have met Abbie Smith in Student Services to discuss this. However, if you have any concerns, please call Abbie on 648254.

In the meantime, if you have any concerns about anything at all – personal issues, finances, study-life balance or anything else - Student Services staff are available to help, so don’t hesitate to contact us on 648254 or email We will be happy to arrange to meet with you for a chat, show you around, talk to you about the support available and hopefully allay any worries you may have.

If you have any queries about your course, please contact us on 648210 or email
