Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy

We have a variety of hairdressing and beauty courses available. Training and assessments are undertaken in the UCM Synnova Salons, with highly qualified tutors who have many years’ experience within the industry. 

We also offer full-time sports courses which provide an exciting insight into the world of health and fitness. A number of roles in the sports industry may also be open to you including assisting in coaching at a Community Sports Club or working as a Sports Development Assistant, Activity Leader or Gym Instructor.   • Indian Head Massage (VTCT NVQ Award Level 3) (Starts 22/23)
    ENTRY:

    There are no formal entry requirements; however, you should be:

    • working within the beauty, hairdressing or holistic therapies industry,

    • have access to the Internet to upload evidence to your e-portfolio.

    You will be required to purchase a uniform and basic kit to enable you to complete the case studies and assessments, and are additional fees for this course.

    DURATION: 8 Weeks

  • Manicure (VTCT Award Level 2)
    ENTRY:

    There are no formal entry requirements; however, you will need have good basic English and communication skills, be dextrous and computer literate.

    Salon uniform and basic kit and equipment are required to enable you to complete your case studies and assessments, and are additional fees for this course.

    DURATION: 1 Week

  • Nail Technology (VTCT Award Level 2)
    ENTRY:
    • Unit N2 Provide Manicure Treatments or equivalent manicure qualification. The NVQ Award in Providing Manicure Services (VTCT Level 2) P1208 course is available at UCM if you do not already hold the relevant qualification.

    • You will need good basic English and communication skills, be dextrous and computer literate.

    Salon uniform and basic kit and equipment are required to enable you to complete your case studies and assessments, and are additional fees for this course.

    DURATION: 8 Weeks

  • VTCT Level 1 NVQ Certificate in Hairdressing
    ENTRY:

    There are no formal academic entry requirements, although you should have: -

    • a keen interest in hairdressing with a degree of artistic skill and flair is essential!

    • good communication skills

    • a positive attitude

    • a willingness to learn and be a team player

    DURATION: 1 Year

  • VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy
    ENTRY:

    Three GCSEs, grade 3 (D) or above, including Science and English

    It is essential to have:-

    • a keen interest in beauty therapy

    • good IT skills

    • good communication skills

    • a positive attitude

    • a willingness to learn

    • an ability to work independently and as part of a team

    DURATION: 1 Year

  • VTCT Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing
    ENTRY:

    3 GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above (must include English) OR an NVQ Level 1 in Hairdressing Qualification OR a previous Level 2 Hairdressing Qualification. It is essential to have an artistic flair, good communication skills, a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and an ability be a team player.
