Reflexology (VTCT Diploma Level 3)

What is the Course About?

This course has been designed to prepare you for a career as a reflexologist. This qualification will develop your knowledge and understanding of the principles and business practice for complementary therapies and will also develop your understanding and practical skills to competently provide reflexology services.

What will I study?

The qualification consists of three units:

  • Principles and practice of complementary therapies - the aim of this unit is to develop your knowledge and understanding of the history and influences on the complementary therapy sector.

  • Business practice for complementary therapies - the aim of this unit is to develop your knowledge, understanding and practical skills in researching, planning, maintaining and marketing a business in the complementary therapy industry. You will also learn to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.

  • Provide reflexology for complementary therapies - the aim of this unit is to provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to carry out reflexology, which includes reflexology treatment, foot structure, reflex points, cross reflexes, conditions of the feet, zone therapy, contra-indication and contra-actions.

What are my progression and career options?

You may decide to enhance your skills by learning to provide other holistic treatments such as aromatherapy. Employment opportunities include becoming a mobile or freelance reflexologist in spas, cruise ships or salons worldwide.

How will I be assessed?

Your assessor will observe a minimum of three practical reflexology treatments within the Synnova Training Salon at UCM. Case studies will be completed in your own time with a minimum of 100 documented treatments, which must include at least four clients, each receiving six reflexology treatments. The underpinning knowledge is assessed through observations and supplemented with online multiple-choice exams, oral questions and written work. Evidence of work is compiled into your e-portfolio.

Entry requirements

  • Certificate in Anatomy and Physiology (Level 3)

  • Certificate in Massage (Level 3), or equivalent

You will be required to purchase a uniform and basic kit to enable you to complete the case studies and assessments, and are additional fees for this course.
