High Demand for Further Education Courses at UCM Info Morning

300 people visited University College Isle of Man (UCM) for its annual information morning, with significant demand for the University College’s 16+ courses.

More than 40 students applied during the event, with many more applying since.

Visitors were welcomed with live performances provided by current UCM music students and were encouraged to get ‘hands-on’ with exhibitions in Construction, Engineering, Health & Social Care, Art and Sport.

UCM Principal, Jesamine Kelly, said “The morning saw a combination of both students who are preparing to sit their GCSEs, and members of the public looking to reskill, drop-in to explore UCM’s facilities and chat with staff about their next step.”

“We provide a wide variety of courses at UCM; as well as our 16+ courses, categorised as Further Education. Our offer includes students aged 14-16, people looking to learn a new hobby through our Leisure sessions, degree level qualifications and professional courses. It is our goal to provide students with a high-quality learning experience and help them achieve their potential.”

For those interested in a career within the engineering industry, UCM is hosting an open evening at their Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre (AMTC) campus on Tuesday 8th March, 4pm -7pm. See here for further details.
