UCM's (University College Isle of Man) Oastan Training Restaurant is open for bookings; where members of the public can enjoy high calibre dining throughout the academic year, all while supporting the next generation of hospitality professionals.
The popular training restaurant will open on selected dates from 1st October 2026 through to May 2027, providing students with invaluable real-world experience in both kitchen and front-of-house operations.
Guests can enjoy carefully crafted menus designed around locally sourced produce, showcasing the quality and diversity of ingredients available on the Island. Each menu has been created to challenge and inspire students while delivering an outstanding dining experience for customers.
Students in the kitchen will be working under the expert guidance of Chef Lecturer Robert Hunter, whose impressive career has seen him work in world-class restaurants across the globe, including the prestigious Goring Hotel in London. He is joined by Irene Berry, an accomplished pastry chef who previously worked under Jason Atherton at the Michelin-starred Pollen Street Social in Mayfair, London.
Together, they bring a wealth of industry expertise to the programme, helping students develop the technical skills, creativity and professionalism required to succeed in the hospitality sector.
Meanwhile, students working in front-of-house roles will gain hands-on experience in customer service, restaurant operations and hospitality management under the guidance of Tracey Conway, whose own career includes experience in a Michelin-starred restaurant.
The Oastan Training Restaurant has become a popular destination for diners looking to enjoy excellent food while supporting local education. Every service provides students with the opportunity to apply their classroom learning in a live commercial environment, helping them build confidence and develop the skills employers are seeking.
Members of the public are encouraged to book early, as places are limited and demand is expected to be high.
