UCM (University College Isle of Man) student, Jevan Sieling, has been running a successful Engineering business all while completing his studies.
Jevan, who is currently in his final year of the BTEC Level 4 HNC in General Engineering registered Sieling Engineering, which is located on Balthane Industrial Estate, last year.
His passion for engineering began while working on classic cars. He started the business from his driveway, making gates and railings, and has since expanded to produce parts for engineering firms and local businesses, alongside private commissions.
Commenting on how his studies have helped him, he said: “As well as all the technical elements of engineering such as designing, drawing and manufacturing, I’ve also learned skills like time-management and lean production which have helped with my business and managing studying alongside running a company.
“The lecturers have been absolutely fantastic; I’ve felt really supported and I know I can always ask them if I’m stuck on something or need some guidance.”
