What is the Course About?

This one‑year programme introduces you to a variety of vocational areas — such as Hospitality or Hairdressing — while helping you build essential skills for learning and working.

You will complete four mandatory units:

• Being Organised

• Developing a Personal Progression Plan

• Working with Others

• Researching a Topic

Alongside these units, you’ll explore different practical vocational options. The aim is to broaden your experience and help you make informed decisions about your future education or career path.

Will I need a DBS check for this course?

No, you do not need a DBS check.

Will I need any specific resources, uniform and/or kit?

No, all required resources will be provided for you.

What are the days and hours of the course?

This is a part‑time programme delivered over approximately 16 hours per week.

Days and times vary depending on the subjects you choose.

Once you receive an unconditional offer, you’ll be given your timetable during Induction in September.

Will I undertake a work placement as part of the course?

No, however you will have lots of opportunities to build employability skills, and your lecturers have worked in the industry, which means you will benefit from their experience.

Level 1 Creative Skills and Experiences will be assessed through internally assessed assessments.

Entry requirements

No formal entry requirements. However, it is ideal for you to have at least entry Level 3 in English and Maths.
