What is the Course About?

This one‑year programme gives you the opportunity to explore the Health, Care and Wellbeing faculty, including areas such as Health and Social Care, Animal Management and Science.

You will complete four mandatory units:

Being Organised

Developing a Personal Progression Plan

Working with Others

Researching a Topic

While sampling different vocational options linked to care and wellbeing.

By trying out a variety of subjects, you’ll broaden your experience and gain the knowledge you need to make confident, informed decisions about your future pathway.

Will I need a DBS check for this course?

No, you will not need a DBS check for this course.

Will I need any specific resources, uniform and/or kit?

No, all resources will be provided for you.

What are the days and hours of the course?

You will study for approximately 16 hours per week.

Days and times may vary depending on the subjects you choose.

Once you receive an unconditional offer, your timetable will be given to you during Induction in September.

Will I undertake work placement as part of the course?

No, however you will have lots of opportunities to build employability skills, and your lecturers have worked in the industry, which means you will benefit from their experience.

Level 1 Health, Care and Wellbeing will be assessed through internally assessed assessments.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. However, it is ideal if you are working towards Entry Level 3 in English and Maths.
