Level 1 Motor Vehicle

What is the Course About?

This one‑year programme introduces you to different aspects of the motor vehicle industry, while helping you build essential skills for learning, teamwork and future employment.

You will complete four mandatory units:

• Being Organised

• Developing a Personal Progression Plan

• Working with Others

• Researching a Topic

Alongside these, you’ll explore a variety of motor‑vehicle‑related practical activities. The aim is to broaden your knowledge of the sector and support you in making confident, informed choices about your future career.

Will I need a DBS check for this course?

No.

Will I need any specific resources, uniform and/or kit?

Yes — you will need:

• Clothes suitable for working in a workshop

• Safety footwear

These items are essential for safe participation in practical sessions.

What are the days and hours of the course?

You will study for approximately 16 hours per week.

Days and times vary depending on the subjects you choose.

Once you receive an unconditional offer, your timetable will be issued during Induction in September.

Will I undertake work experience as part of the course?

No — this programme does not include work experience.

• Internally assessed coursework

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. However, it is ideal if you are working towards Entry Level 3 in English and Maths.
