So, how do we record important information about complex three-dimensional objects when we conserve  or restore them? Drawing on examples from over thirty years of professional experience, Christopher will illustrate some of the challenges the historic yacht Peggy (1789) presents and particular problems with respect to documentation due to its size, complexity and shape. These will be discussed and possible solutions explored. Three-dimensional modelling, computer aided design (CAD), and Building Information Management (BIM) standards offer the prospect of novel solutions to the challenges of documenting such objects.
