Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Engineering (General)

What is the Course About?

This qualification will develop skills and knowledge for those apprentices currently serving in industry.

What subjects will I study?

There are 4 mandatory units which must be studied these are:

Engineering principles (examined)

Delivery of engineering processes safely as a team

Engineering product design and manufacture (examined)

Applied commercial and quality principles in engineering

Further units will be studied which may include:

• Computer aided design in engineering

• Electronic devices and circuits

• Engineering maintenance and condition monitoring techniques

• Mechanical behaviour of metallic materials

• Mechanical measurement and inspection technology

Will I need a DBS check for this course?

No

Will I need any specific resources, uniform and/or kit?

Personal Protective Equipment will be provided.

Learners must provide their own stationery and laptop (laptops can be borrowed from UCM).

What are the days and hours of the course?

Your timetable will be issued during your first day at college. As a part time course, you will be expected to attend the William Kennish Building on Greenfield Road for one day per week during college term time.

The course is assessed using a combination of external examination and internally assessed coursework.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade C's in Mathematics & Science & GCSE Grade D in English.

OR

Achieved a L2 Pass in BTEC First in Engineering (or equivalent)
