Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business
What is the Course About?
The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business is a two-year, full-time qualification equivalent to three A Levels and carries a maximum UCAS tariff of 168 points. The course provides a comprehensive introduction to the business world, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills and is a blend of 13 business modules that are essential in today's workplace.
Guest speakers, offsite visits to local businesses and a work placement module also form part of the course.

Will I need a DBS check for this course?
No
Will I need any specific resources, uniform and/or kit?
No, just wear comfortable clothes.
What are the days and hours of the course?
You will be given your timetable during Induction, in September.
Will I undertake work experience as part of the course?
You will be required to complete a work placement in the second year of the course.

What are my progression and career options?
The course is ideal for those looking to progress into employment, an apprenticeship, or a degree in topics such as Business Management, Marketing and Accounting and Finance.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is through a combination of:
External assessments (e.g. written exams and set tasks marked by Pearson)
Internal assessments (e.g. coursework, projects, presentations)
Synoptic assessment in Unit 7, where you apply knowledge from across the course to solve complex business problems
Each unit is graded as Pass, Merit, or Distinction, and your final qualification grade is based on your performance across all units.
Entry requirements
Four GCSEs at C or above (or equivalent) including Maths or English language, or a Merit at Level 2.
This course is designed for students aged 16 - 19 who have just finished or recently finished school. If you are older than this, please get in contact with UCM to discuss other courses that will be more appropriate.
