Level 1 Land Management
What is the Course About?
This one‑year programme gives you the opportunity to explore different aspects of Horticulture, while developing essential skills that support learning, independence and future employability.
You will complete four mandatory units:
• Being Organised
• Developing a Personal Progression Plan
• Working with Others
• Researching a Topic
Alongside these, you will investigate a range of horticulture‑based vocational activities. The aim is to broaden your experience and help you make confident, informed career decisions.
Will I need a DBS check for this course?
No.
Will I need any specific resources, uniform and/or kit?
Yes — you will need:
Clothing suitable for outdoor and workshop activities
Safety footwear
These are essential for practical horticulture tasks.
What are the days and hours of the course?
You will study for approximately 16 hours per week.
Days and times vary depending on the subjects you choose.
Once you receive an unconditional offer, your timetable will be shared during Induction in September.
Will I undertake work experience as part of the course?
No — this course does not include a work placement component.

How will I be assessed?
Level 1 Land Management will be assessed through internally assessed assessments and practical activities.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements. However, it is ideal if you are working towards Entry Level 3 in English and Maths.
